June Show 2024

The Society’s June show and plant sale was held on Saturday 8th June at St Peter’s School in Rossett.

The show was opened by two choirs from St. Peter’s School both singing two songs each with actions. They were very good and clearly enjoyed themselves. They were a delight, and we thank them, their parents for bringing them and the members of staff who came in on a Saturday afternoon to lead them.

For the first time we had a potting table for children to try their hand at potting up small plants into pots. Some 22 children went home with plants they had potted up. We hope they bring to the summer show on 24th August at Darland High School to show off what they have achieved growing them on.

The plant sale went well selling plants donated by members to raise funds for the Society, specifically to support the August show. The tables for exhibits were fully populated with plants for the judge to award prizes and there were more exhibits than last year.

The Frank Neal Memorial Trophy, awarded to the exhibitor with the most points over all classes, was won by a new member of the Society, June Greenwood. Ann Newman was awarded the cup for the best exhibit in the rose classes.
